LGBT individuals around the world often face persecution and extreme violence in their home countries owing to their sexual orientation and / or gender identity and expression. Those who can, flee their countries of origin in search of a safer environment and better life. However, this journey is not easy and LGBT asylum seekers and refugees are frequently victims of discrimination, isolation, violence and abuse along the way to a safe third country.
